Are you controlling the recession, or is it controlling you?

Bob Selden is the author of the newly published “What To Do When You Become The Boss” - a self help book for new managers. He also coaches at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland and the Australian Graduate School of Management, Sydney. You can contact Bob via http://www.whenyoubecometheboss.com/

When the going gets tough, we can either say “Well, that’s life, I can’t do much about it”. Or, we can say “Things are tough, but I can win through”.

It all depends on how we view the world.

Why We Need Hope

While there is no dearth of hope in this world, actually, there is quite an economy that operates on selling hope and dreams, and earn big bucks; there are reasons to be skeptical about hope. Why do we need hope? I mean, we all know that while that song about hope, that nice motivational lecture you last attended, that movie you saw, that news report you saw where justice had been delivered finally, are feel good factors with a low shelf life. Then, before you know it, darkness descends again. Stuff happens to people who do no wrong. Psychos turn enemies and friends turn psychos. Another irony about life is that there is this pattern to it. When things are going all right, and you actually start believing that things are as nice as they seem, they suddenly change their color scheme to the exact opposite. While we keep reading about the battle between the wrong and right, the good and the evil, nothing prepares us for the evil present in good, and the wrongs the rights commit. The only resultant that remains, and is actually more faithful than any of these factors, is cynicism. At least doubt is permanent.

How To Improve Your Motivation In Your Business

When you’re running a small business, there are often times when you feel a bit down about it. Perhaps you haven’t had a great month; maybe your customers aren’t paying or something else has gone wrong. Whatever has happened, it’s fairly easy to get de-motivated; so easy in fact that my business mentor offer says to me “show me an entrepreneur and I’ll show you a manic depressant” – what he means is that sometimes you’re on top of the world and other times you hit rock bottom. Most people who run a small business will definitely know what I mean.

More Than Time Is Required To Bring About Radical Transformations

How often do we think that time will radically change people? No - only Jesus Christ can do that. How frequently does a woman think that after she is married, she will change her husband? There are many casualties regarding that one.

Turn with me to Acts Chapter 25 in the New Testament and let me explain clearly what I mean.

Festus the Governor of the region returns to Caesarea, having been in Jerusalem, and the trial of Paul begins all over again, after having been left to languish in prison for two years. I have been in Caesarea many times and it would not be a nice place to be left imprisoned and particularly when you had no idea how long this was going to last. It is hot humid and steamy.

It Can All Happen Within An Hour And It Did On This Occasion - But It Caused Much Trouble

O,no, not another of these Christians in trouble, and this time it is one of the high profile leaders. Why are these disciples of Jesus Christ always apparently getting into so much bother?

In the New Testament book of Acts in Chapter 10, both Peter, the leader in the Church, and Cornelius, that Roman Army Officer, experience God moving in a way neither of them ever thought they would ever experience and see and witness.

Visions lead to men from different backgrounds coming together. Obedience to the revelation of God leads to an outpouring of The Holy Spirit, among Gentiles, and consequently, a breaking down of barriers and prejudices.

Go Far - Be A Deep Threat - Visualize Your Victory!

Visualize, Actualize, Realize. Be committed to your
goals. Think long term, have a plan and execute it
to perfection with style and grace.

FAR Principle: Remember this Success Equation…
Faith + Asking= Results (FAR). You indeed will go
FAR on this principle alone. Faith and Asking go to
very essence of our inner being. We’ve all had
examples of how faith works in our lives, haven’t
we? Think for a second about the last time you had
real faith in something and it came true. If you have
faith, all things are possible!

Increase Your Wealth - Find A Mentor

If you have heard the phrase, “self-made millionaire” before, then you are probably wondering how a mentor can propel you to great wealth. This phrase, often repeated in today’s media, is probably one of the greatest lies perpetrated on our society! If you pick any millionaire or billionaire around the world (who actually created their wealth personally) you will find a large list of colleagues, friends, business advisors and life coaches who helped them on their way.

Who are they?

A mentor is more than just a person who tells you what to do and when to do it. Although the traditional idea is of the experienced mystic who knows exactly what to say in every situation, a modern view is much more practical. Moreover, the new mentor concept is also more accessible to those who see the value and take advantage of the strategy.

Having a mentor does not mean you need to hire a high priced professional coach. The important part about having a mentor is finding a system of beliefs, actions and goals to model and experiment with. This may include a one-on-one with any number of qualified professionals but it can also be through video interviews, books, audio programs and the like.

Finding your mentor

In your area of pursuit, your first step should be to find a mentor that will help you grow and move toward your goals. If you are interested in real estate investing then learn what you can from investors such as Robert G. Allen or Raymond Aaron. If you’re more into stock investing, follow the advice of Warren Buffet and subscribe to any number of information services available. Read what they have written, use their advice, meet them if possible and follow their lead.

Remember, a mentor is not just a person who holds your hand through each step of your business, career or investment progression. A mentor can be any person who motivates you to succeed, helps you focus your thoughts and beliefs and gives you the information you require at each stage of your life.

Final Thoughts

By successfully integrating mentors into your life you will develop a completely new mind-set towards wealth. If you can find the right mentors for each stage of your career you will be far ahead of those who falsely believe that they can be a self-made success.
