It may be shocking, but it is a fact that there are children that are traumatized by physical, sexual, and emotional abusers or by caregivers who ignore them. Actually, this happens each year and there are about thousands of children were abused. With this, the scar is truly deep and lasting that not only the kids are continually affected by the society as well. As an owner and manager of a daycare center, you need to learn the signs and symptoms of child abuse in order to know what to do and to get help.
There are four types of child abuse and these are physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect.
Typically, the first two categories are getting much attention since it involves physical violence. But as one who owns a daycare center, you need to check your staffs and caregivers about child neglect, you need to make sure that your facility is free from this kind of abuse.
If a child’s physical and psychological well being is being damaged, the child is experiencing neglect type of abuse. Neglect happens when you fail to provide their basic needs. If the caregivers in your facility choose not to do their job, the children are being neglected.
The physical neglects are as follow: failure to provide basic needs such as food, not thinking the child’s safety, delay with the child’s health care, abandoning children.
Educational neglects are failure to enroll a child in school, refuse of following child’s special educational needs, causing a child to miss many days in school.
The emotional neglects include permitting s child to use recreational drug, insufficient attention, exposing child to spousal abuse, failing to interfere when the child shows antisocial behavior and delay to provide psychological care.
Yes, it is best to know all the types of abuses in order to gain knowledge and you would how to prevent it and can check out your staffs and caregivers if they are showing any signs of abuses to the kids under your facility.
There are signs that you can check out in order to know if the kids are suffering from child neglect. There signs are unwashed appearance, show sign of hunger, lacking of supervision, having rashes that are left untreated, fail to relate with others, few of the signs that you can check out.
If you are suspecting your staff doing child abuse in your facility, you must report it right away. If you report any child abuse, you will definitely, make a difference in the life of the child and of the child’s family.
