Natural Eczema Cure
Eczema is a term which is used to describe a range of persistent skin conditions. Sufferers from eczema use exhibit a number of symptoms relating to inflammation (”dermatitis”) of upper layers on the skin: redness, skin rashes, dryness, as well as itching, blistering, crusting or flaking, and in some cases oozing or bleeding.
Probably the first step in preventing eczema is to look at the soaps and detergents that you use, both for washing your clothes and bed linen, and for washing yourself. As far as clothes and linens are concerned, you should avoid harsh and heavily perfumed products, and ideally use a liquid detergent. Additionally, when washing your clothes, be sure to use two rinse cycles, to make sure the detergent is completely removed. When washing yourself, you should also avoid harsh products, and after washing you might want to consider using an emollient lotion which will help your skin retain moisture. As far as possible, you should also avoid wool and synthetic materials - bed linen for example should be 100% cotton - and make sure everything (include linens) is regularly washed to avoid any bacterial growth. These steps will probably greatly help, but if you continue to itch, try to avoid scratching, and instead take a long soak in an oatmeal bath.
People who are suffering from eczema should, of course, make an appointment to see their doctor or dermatologist (a dermatologist is a doctor who specializes in skin conditions - your family doctor will be able to refer you to one). This is crucial, as only then can you be assured of a proper diagnosis - and, of course, without a correct diagnosis, it’s impossible to know what if any treatment is necessary. Medical treatments can make a huge difference in bringing eczema under control, but they are not necessarily the whole solution. Even the relatively simple lifestyle changes that I have outlined in this article, can in often alleviate, and in many cases even resolve, the problem.
